With this post, we are kicking off a series of articles focusing on people who have documented their experience with Japanese hair straightening online. Hearing from someone firsthand who has gone through the procedure can be one of the best resources to help you determine whether or not thermal reconditioning is right for you.

Japanese Hair Straightening with Kristen Maldonado

Kristen Maldonado is a New York native who has always loved the entertainment world. She has covered red carpet events as an entertainment journalist. Her personal Youtube channel is quite eclectic, including everything from Do It Yourself videos to product reviews and unboxing to interviews with stars from the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival.

According to her personal website, kristenmaldonado.com, she is currently

a production coordinator for MTV where she works on web production and social media for shows like Girl CodeCatfishFaking It, and Fantasy Factory, just to name a few.  She also hosts MTV’s All The Feels, an online recap show for Faking It featuring interviews with various cast members that give a deeper look into each episode of the show.

She’s also a fan of Japanese hair straightening. Her Youtube video from November 2014 details her experience of having her hair permanently straightened at Hair Village in New York City. In her uniquely energetic way, Kristen gives a great explanation of the Japanese hair straightening procedure and why she decided to go for it rather than a shorter term straightening solution.
